Welcome

Therapy can be a place to slow down, talk honestly, and sort through what feels heavy, confusing, or hard to name. You do not need to arrive with perfect words or a clear plan.

Some people come to therapy in crisis. Others come because life looks fine from the outside, but feels harder than it should. Both are welcome here.

If something in you is saying, “I think I need to talk to someone,” that is enough of a reason to begin.

Support that helps you slow down, sort through what feels stuck, and move forward at a pace that feels honest to you.

I’m Joel (he/him), a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping adults navigate stress, identity, health concerns, and major life transitions.

You may be keeping up with school, work, relationships, or responsibilities while privately feeling anxious, burned out, stuck, or unsure of who you are becoming. Therapy offers a place to talk honestly, think clearly, and sort through what you have been carrying without judgment or pressure to perform.

I work with people who want space to better understand themselves, change old patterns, and move toward a life that feels more steady, connected, and their own.

You do not need to know exactly what is wrong before reaching out. We can start there together.

Many clients come to therapy to:

  • Manage anxiety, stress, or burnout

  • Navigate academic or professional pressure

  • Understand recurring emotional patterns

  • Explore identity, culture, or belonging

  • Cope with chronic illness or fatigue

  • Clarify direction during a major life transition

My role is not to tell you who to be. It is to listen carefully, ask useful questions, and help you move toward a life that feels more steady, honest, and your own.

About Me- Joel Harris

JOEL HARRIS HEADSHOT_2.jpg

I’ve worked in mental health for more than 25 years, and one thing I’ve learned is that people rarely come to therapy with everything neatly figured out. Some people know exactly what they want to talk about. Others just know that something feels off, heavy, stuck, or harder than it needs to be.

Both are good places to start.

I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Memphis in 2016, and my experience has included work in schools, clinical settings, and private practice. Those settings have taught me to listen carefully, ask useful questions, and adapt therapy to the person in front of me rather than forcing people into a script.

My approach is collaborative, straightforward, and paced to you. Sometimes our work may involve slowing down and giving you room to think out loud. Other times, it may involve noticing patterns, talking through hard choices, or working together on practical ways to move forward.

As a biracial Seneca/Haudenosaunee and White clinician, and as someone who lives with chronic illness, I understand that identity, culture, belonging, and health can shape how people move through the world. I bring that awareness into therapy with respect, curiosity, and care.

I value honesty, mutual respect, and a therapeutic relationship where you can be yourself without judgment or pressure to perform.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, working with my hands through home and auto repair, spending time outdoors, traveling, and being with my partner, family, and friends.
